Este estudio analiza una traducción española manuscrita de Il principe incluida en un volumen inédito fechado en Roma en 1680 y conservado en la Biblioteca Nacional como manuscrito nº 902, en el que aparecen las traducciones de otras obras del autor realizadas por Don Juan Vélez de León a petición del rey Carlos II. El análisis se centra en cuatro niveles: el análisis intertextual, que trata el contexto en el que nace la traducción; el análisis de los elementos extratextuales (traductor, receptor y original); el análisis macroestructural, que compara la estructura del original con la de la traducción; y el análisis microestructural, que examina las intervenciones del traductor (adiciones, supresiones, modificaciones y errores).
This study presents an analysis of a Spanish translation of Il Principe of Machiavelli preserved handwritten: the translation is included in an unpublished volume dated in Rome in 1680 with another works of the author translated by Don Juan Vélez de León at the request of King Carlos II. The analysis focuses on four levels: intertextual analysis, which deals with the context of translation, as well as with the characteristics of translation of that time; the analysis of extratextual elements (the translator, the potential reader and the source text); the macrostructural analysis, in which the overall structure of the source text is compared with the structure of the target; and microstructural analysis, which examines the translator’s interventions (additions, deletions, modifications and errors).
