Questo studio riflette intorno il ruolo dei nomi nelle opere di Roberto Bolaño. A partire dal toponimo di ‘Santa Teresa’, la città immaginaria in cui sono ambientati 2666 e Los detectives salvajes, e analizzando i nomi di personaggi presenti in altri romanzi e racconti si cercherà di dimostrare come le strategie onomastiche dello scrittore non sono casuali e servono a veicolare altre funzioni rispetto a quelle della semplice nominazione, come le forme dell’autoritratto, o la tensione narrativa intorno alla ricerca dello scrittore scomparso.
The purpose of this research is a reflection about the role of the names in Roberto Bolaño’s work. Through the analysis of the toponym ‘Santa Teresa’, the imaginary city where 2666 and Los detectives salvajes are set, and through the examination of the characters’ names in other novels and short stories, it is possible to affirm that Bolaño’s onomastic choices are not casual. The names have indeed important narrative functions, as the self-representation or the narrative tension towards the disappeared writer.
