Abstract

This article analyzes the novel Verde (Sanchiz, 2016). Firstly, we ponder about possible links with Uruguayan literature around the term “raro” proposed by Ángel Rama in 1966. Secondly, in dialogue with Mark Fisher’s The Weird and the Eerie, we present the way in which weird compose the aforementioned novel. The conclusions show a convergence of narrative elements of genre that dialogue with tradition under the brand of parody when evoking Lovecraft, Borges, K. Dick and Ballard, while the truly abominable crystalizes on the problematization of the function of the narrator, as well as memory and the possibilities of bifurcation of any narrative within fantastic and science fiction.
