Abstract

Un indomable corpus proteiforme de textos de naturaleza no mimética se impone por encima de la escena literaria hispanoamericana más actual, algo que podríamos tildar de “boom weird” que tiene a su capitana en Mariana Enriquez y en Nuestra parte de noche su tótem. En este artículo me ocuparé de analizar dicha obra bajo la estela del ‘fantástico de la globalización’ y así justificar su centralidad en el contexto del fenómeno literario mencionado. En particular iré notando como en el texto convergen muchas de las trayectorias teóricas propuestas por muchos de l*s autor*s contemporáneos que describen e intentan contener el caos de la condición contemporánea. El análisis arranca desde la consideración de que la Oscuridad, imperscrutable divinidad ancestral alrededor de la que se desarrolla la novela, sea una metáfora del capital. Observando su tratamiento en el texto desde dos diferentes puntos de vista –uno que apunta al individuo y el otro a la sociedad– la Oscuridad parece restituir dos diferentes lecturas de la contemporaneidad: por un lado, portándose como una enfermedad infecciosa que atraviesa los cuerpos y los habita a través de un proceso que podríamos asociar a la posesión, ‘produce’ a los médiums, resultados de la remezcla y la confusión, los auténticos prototipos del homo novus de la era posthumana a venir; por el otro, es una masa negra que extiende sus tentáculos sobre el planeta envolviéndolo completamente, difuminando y finalmente acabando con cualquier tipo de frontera, límite y división.

An indomitable protean corpus of texts of a non-mimetic nature imposes itself over the most current Hispanic American literary scene, something we could call ‘boom weird’ that has its captain in Mariana Enriquez and in Nuestra parte de noche its totem. In this article, I will analyze the novel in the wake of the ‘fantastic of globalization’ and thus justify its centrality in the context of the aforementioned literary phenomenon. In particular, I will note how, in Enriquez’s oeuvre, converge many of the theoretical trajectories proposed by most of the authors who describe (and try to contain) the chaos of the contemporary condition. The analysis starts from the consideration that ‘la Oscuridad’, the imperscrutable ancestral divinity around which the novel develops, is a metaphor for capital. Observing its treatment in the text from two different points of view –one that points to the individual and the other to society–, ‘la Oscuridad’ seems to restore two different readings of contemporaneity: on the one hand, behaving like an infectious disease that crosses bodies and inhabits them through a process that we could associate with possession, it ‘produces’ mediums, results of remixing and confusion, the authentic prototypes of the homo novus of the post-human era to come; on the other, it is a black mass that spreads its tentacles over the planet enveloping it completely, blurring and finally doing away with any kind of border, boundary and division.
