Mónica Ojeda’s Literary System

Abstract

Este trabajo se propone reflexionar sobre los elementos literarios de la obra de Mónica Ojeda, en particular en las novelas Nefando (2016) y Mandíbula (2018). A raíz de la constatación de que todo género de la modernidad está todavía en camino de justificación en el canon, nuestra intención es averiguar cuáles son los procedimientos técnicos de escritura, para qué sirven y de qué forma las dos novelas exhiben sus rasgos ficcionales. Objetivo del trabajo es definir el manejo de la biblioteca por parte de Mónica Ojeda y la voluntad de proponer una lectura de la tradición literaria y cultural en relación con la literatura del horror. 

This paper aims to investigate the literary elements of Mónica Ojeda’s work, with a specific focus on the novels Nefando (2016) and Mandíbula (2018). Reaffirming that every literary genre belonging to modernity (e.g. crime and horror) still has to work its acceptance in the literary canon, we intend to find out which are the technical writing procedures, their aims and how the two novels reveal their fictional features.  The main objective of this work is to outline Ojeda’s use of library and scholarly works and her intention on proposing a way of reading and interpreting the literary and cultural tradition related to horror literature.
