Abstract

This study aims to examine the short story “Grafitti” by Julio Cortázar and it analyzes how it is constructed on the prohibition of drawing, at the level of the story, and around the conflicting relationship between absent image and writing on the image, at the level of discourse. As it is known, the complaint against the National Reorganization Process is the underlying theme of the volume Queremos tanto a Glenda (1980), to which the text belongs, so that this study will explore how this complaint is articulated in the story, since it is formed on a building of oblique glances around the images. At the same time, in addition to the political feature of the text, it is intended here to highlight the aesthetic problems that underlie the writing as a result of the symbolism of the forbidden image and slanted glances.
