“Un plato que se ha roto en mil pedazos”: Dreams as microtext in Roberto Bolaño’s Work

Abstract

L’articolo si propone di ripercorrere le opere di Roberto Bolaño tentando una disamina dei racconti di sogni che lo scrittore inserisce all’interno dei suoi testi. Tale ricognizione punta in primo luogo a spiegare se e come sia possibile includere questi racconti di sogni nel genere della “micronarrativa”, e in che modo si possa considerarli separatamente rispetto al contesto testuale che li contiene, ovvero i racconti e i romanzi. Infine, attraverso una concisa rassegna e un’analisi di sogni estratti da varie opere – a partire da quelle più strutturalmente frammentarie, dove tale estrazione è più immediata, fino a quelle più coese e unitarie – si cerca di determinare cosa questi microtesti onirici possano dirci, più in generale, sulla scrittura e sulla poetica di Bolaño.

The article reflects on the works of Roberto Bolano attempting an analysis of the accounts of dreams the writer inserts in his writings. The aim of this survey is first and foremost to explain whether and how we can include these accounts in the genre of “micro narratives”, and whether they can be viewed as autonomous from the textual frames – short stories and novels – that contain them. Finally, through a brief overview and analysis of dream accounts excerpted from various works – from those more structurally fragmented, where this operation is more immediate, to those more cohesive and unitary – trying to define what these microtexts on dreams can tell us, more generally, about Bolano’s writing and poetics.
