Abstract

Héctor Galmés (Montevideo, 1933-1986) fue un escritor tardío, oficio que compaginó con el de docente de Literatura española e hispanoamericana y con el de traductor de alemán. Su obra, periférica y marginal, ha despertado el interés de la crítica literaria de su país en las últimas décadas y ha sido estudiada desde la categoría inaugurada en los años 60 por Ángel Rama de literatura imaginativa o de los raros que el crítico usó para diferenciarla de la literatura fantástica argentina. En este trabajo se pretende rastrear esta huella del raro en su escritura y abordar, además, otros temas centrales que atraviesan toda su obra como el del doble o el mito de Proteo que la acercan a las escrituras de otras genealogías literarias como el arielismo. 

Héctor Galmés (Montevideo, 1933-1986) was a late writer, a job that he combined with teaching Spanish and Latin American Literature and translating into German. His peripheral and marginal work has aroused the interest of literary criticism in his country in recent decades and has been studied from the category inaugurated in the 1960s by Ángel Rama of imaginative literature or the rare ones that the critic used to differentiate it from Argentine fantastic literature. This work aims at tracing this mark of the rare in his writing and also addressing other central themes that run through all of his works, such as that of the double or the myth of Proteus that bring it closer to the writings of other literary genealogies such as Arielism.
