From Mihura to Blasetti: Translating and Adaptating Melocotón en almíbar for Television

Abstract

En este artículo se analiza la adaptación televisiva de Alessandro Blasetti Pesca allo sciroppo (1967) de la comedia de Mihura Melocotón en almíbar, estrenada en 1958 y llevada a la gran pantalla en 1960. Definido el nuevo contexto de recepción, se estudia el tratamiento temático y la traslación del componente referencial cinematográfico, así como algunas estrategias del humor en su traducción al italiano.

This paper analyses Alessandro Blasetti’s television adaptation Pesca allo sciroppo (1967) of the comedy by Mihura Melocotón en almíbar (Peach in syrup), premiered in 1958 and brought to the big screen in 1960. Once the new context of reception has been defined, it studies the thematic treatment and translation of the cinematographic referential component, as well as some strategies of humour into Italian translation.
