The Body against: Jimena Néspolo’s Episodios de cacería

Abstract

El presente artículo considera la novela Episodios de cacería (2015) de Jimena Néspolo y analiza cómo el cuerpo de la mujer se convierte en el terreno de lucha a partir del cual elaborar una crítica subversiva de las líneas de saber y subjetividad regidas por estructuras de poder basadas en la coincidencia entre logocentrismo y falocentrismo. Al mismo tiempo, se verá cómo la tradición mitológica relacionada con el mito de Ártemis, provee al relato de la estructura (Durand, 2004) argumentativa y simbólica que se resemantiza en una diégesis distópica con un impulso utópico, y que vehicula el proceso descolonizador y contradiscursivo. Apoyándose en las definiciones de Linda Hutcheon (1980) y de Patricia Waugh (1984), el paso siguiente viene a ser la consideración del carácter metaficcional del texto, a través del cual se propone relacionar la escritura con la “carne” (Merleau-Ponty, 2010) que une y separa el cuerpo individual del mundo social en el cual está insertado.

This article considers Jimena Néspolo’s novel Episodios de cacería (2015) and analyzes how the woman’s body becomes the ground of struggle from which is possible to elaborate a subversive critique of the lines of knowledge and subjectivity governed by power structures based on the concordance between logo-centrism and phallus-centrism. At the same time, the study analyzes how the mythological tradition related to the myth of Artemis provides the story with the “structure” (Durand, 2004) argumentative and symbolic that is reformulated in a dystopian diegesis with a utopian impulse, and that conveys the decolonizing and subversive process. Based on the definitions of Linda Hutcheon (1980) and Patricia Waugh (1984), the next step becomes the consideration of the metafictional feature of the text, through which it is possible to relate the writing with the concept of “flesh” (Merleau-Ponty, 2010), that unites and separates the individual body from the social world in which it is inserted.
