Abstract

Santa Perpetua aprovecha la figura extra-escénica del desaparecido –símbolo de los represaliados de la Guerra Civil– para tratar el tema de la memoria histórica y de la postmemoria. Este artículo analiza las estrategias de escritura y las técnicas de construcción del texto y del personaje teatral para estudiar cómo Ripoll concreta tales aspectos en la pieza. Para alcanzar tal objetivo, se hace hincapié en el peculiar tratamiento temático, en la manera de forjar los personajes –escénicos y extra-escénicos– y crear unas coordenadas espacio-temporales que contribuyen a su contextualización histórica y socio-política y los proyectan en la esfera de lo teatral con evidentes matices grotescos y fantasmales, evocando una impactante escena esperpéntica.

Santa Perpetua uses the extra-scenic character –a symbol of the victims of reprisals during the Spanish Civil War– to deal with the topic of historical memory and postmemory. This article analyzes the writing strategies and the construction techniques of the dramatic text and character to study how Ripoll concretizes such aspects in her work. In order to achieve this objective, emphasis has been placed on the peculiar thematic treatment, on the way in which the characters are forged, scenic and extra-scenic-wise, and on the creation of space-time coordinates, that contribute to their historical and socio-political contextualisation and project them into the theatrical sphere, through grotesque and ghostly features, evoking an impressive esperpentic scene.
