Abstract

A partire dalla seconda metà dell’Ottocento, dopo lo straordinario successo rinascimentale, la narrativa cavalleresca spagnola riacquistò vitalità, godendo di una rinnovata fortuna editoriale che la accompagnerà ininterrottamente fino ai nostri giorni. Adattandosi, con straordinaria versatilità, alle nuove correnti letterarie che si succedono nei secoli (Romanticismo, Realismo, Modernismo, Realismo magico, fantasy...), il paradigma cavalleresco, spesso influenzato anche dal modello cervantino, non cessa di rinnovarsi in alcuni dei romanzi moderni più interessanti e, soprattutto, più enigmatici.

Since the second half of the 19^th Century, the Spanish chivalric narrative has regained some of the cultural vitality that it had previously had during the Renaissance. It even managed to develop a renewed editorial fortune that would uninterruptedly last up to the present day. This genre shows a great versatility, adapting itself to the literary aesthetics of the day (Romanticism, Realism, Modernism, magic realism, fantasy etcetera). The chivalric paradigm, which quite often gets influenced by the Cervantine model, continues to inform and shape some of the most interesting and daring examples of modern novel.
